Which Abu Dhabi city tour

Every Abu Dhabi day trip from Dubai starts at the Grand Mosque. What happens after it is what you are choosing: a presidential palace, a world-class museum, or eight quick stops and a mall lunch.

The listings look alike: hotel pickup, the Grand Mosque, the Corniche, photo stops. The differences are in the second half of the day and in the fine print. Which places you actually enter, and which you only see through the coach window.

Three types of day cover almost everything on offer. This guide puts them side by side, with what the extra sites cost if you went on your own.

The quick answer

For the classic day, book the mosque, Qasr Al Watan and Etihad Towers tour from $80: both tickets and the tower deck are included. For art, the mosque and Louvre day from $101 gives two hours in each. For the lowest price, the budget day from $42 has eight short stops and shop breaks. The Louvre closes on Mondays.

What does an Abu Dhabi city tour from Dubai include?

Hotel pickup, about 1.5 hours' drive each way, the Grand Mosque, and three to eight more stops. Lunch is usually extra.

Almost every day trip starts at the mosque, because it is the first landmark you reach from Dubai. After that, the usual stops are Qasr Al Watan, the Etihad Towers, Emirates Palace (now a Mandarin Oriental hotel), the Corniche, the Heritage Village, the dates market, the Louvre Abu Dhabi and a Ferrari World photo stop on Yas Island.

Read each listing for two words: "entry" and "photo stop". A photo stop at the Louvre means 15 minutes outside. Entry means a ticket.

Which Abu Dhabi day tour from Dubai is best?

The mosque, palace and tower day for most people; the Louvre day for museum lovers; the budget day if price decides.

Is Qasr Al Watan worth visiting?

Yes. It is the working presidential palace, open to visitors, with a vast domed Great Hall, and the flagship tour includes the ticket.

Qasr Al Watan sits on the Ras Al Akhdar peninsula next to Emirates Palace. A ticket costs about AED 65 for adults and AED 30 for children aged 4 to 12 when bought through resellers in 2026; under 4s go free. Hours vary by month, typically from late morning to early evening, so check the official visitor page.

Two things to know. Guides are not allowed to lead tours inside the palace, so on a day tour you explore on your own for about 1.5 hours. And it can close without notice for presidential events, in which case the tour swaps the stop.

The best 3 things to do the tower view, the real Palace (not the hotel) and the Grand Mosque. The Palace was the highlight absolutely stunning.

What is the Etihad Towers observation deck?

The Observation Deck at 300, on level 74 of the Etihad Towers, with views over Emirates Palace, the Corniche and the Gulf.

Three tours here include the deck: the flagship day from Dubai and two from Abu Dhabi. Bought on its own, the entry runs from about AED 95 with credit for a drink or cake on some tickets. Tours spend 30 minutes to an hour up there.

It is not always open: one guest on the flagship tour found the towers closed for entry on a summer day. The tour still runs, with the other stops.

Mosque and Louvre: which tour is better?

The mosque and Louvre day at $101 gives two clear hours at each. The $75 day adds Emirates Palace, the Heritage Village and a photo stop at Ferrari World, with an hour at the Louvre.

The mosque and Louvre day keeps it simple: "Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Visit - 2 Hours", "Louvre Museum Visit - 2 Hours", the mosque ticket included, with short photo stops on the Corniche. There is no guiding inside the Louvre; you get the museum's own displays. An option adds the Zayed National Museum.

The mosque, Emirates Palace and Louvre tour is the cheaper way to get a Louvre ticket, in groups of 15 at most, pickup 9 to 9:30 am and back around 6 to 6:30 pm. It fits more in and gives each stop less time.

Is the Louvre Abu Dhabi open on Mondays?

No. The Louvre Abu Dhabi is closed on Mondays, so Louvre tours change their plan or don't run that day.

The museum's galleries open from 10 am, closing at 6:30 pm Tuesday to Thursday and at 8:30 pm Friday to Sunday (official visit page). Adult tickets cost AED 65; under 18s go free. It stands on Saadiyat Island under Jean Nouvel's latticed dome, about half an hour's drive from the mosque.

Visiting on a Monday? Book the palace day instead: the mosque, Qasr Al Watan and the Etihad deck are all open.

The dome alone is worth the drive. The galleries close on Mondays.

Is the cheap Abu Dhabi tour from Dubai worth it?

For seeing a lot for little money, yes. For time at the mosque, less so: it is one stop of about eight, with shop breaks.

The budget day costs from $42 and runs 9 hours in groups of up to 30. The itinerary lists the Heritage Village, the mosque, a Ferrari World photo stop, the Corniche, Qasr Al Watan from outside, the Miraj Islamic art centre and the dates market. A September 2026 guest also mentions a chocolate and herb shop, an art gallery and lunch at a mall before the mosque.

Shop stops are not a scam; you are just not obliged to buy. Lunch and tips are extra, and the abaya is lent. If the mosque is your priority, the half-day mosque tour costs $16 more and spends its whole time there.

How do I choose my Abu Dhabi tour in one minute?

Answer three questions: Monday or not, museum or palace, and how much shopping you can stand.

Private or shared? The private vs group guide does the maths per person.

Do Abu Dhabi tours from Dubai go inside Ferrari World?

No. The budget and Louvre-palace days make a photo stop outside Ferrari World on Yas Island. Entry to the theme park is a separate full day.

Can I do an Abu Dhabi city tour on a Friday?

Yes, but the mosque closes to visitors from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm, so tours reorder the stops. Avoid Friday if your dates allow.

Can I combine Qasr Al Watan and the Louvre in one day?

Not on the shared tours here. The private car from Dubai adds both as options for about $20 each, if you have the time.
